The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Minnesota law enforcement are investigating the case of a black man who died after being detained by police, according to The New York Times.
On May 26, Mayor of Minneapolis, Mr. Jacob Frey, confirmed that 4 police officers related to the incident were fired from the police industry and he believed that “this is the right decision”.
“Being a black man in the United States is not a death sentence,” Mr. Frey expressed indignation about the serious case involving racism.
Earlier, on May 25, videos related to the concussion went viral at breakneck speeds on social networks, sparking outrage and numerous large-scale protests in the city.
Specifically, the video recorded an officer of the Minneapolis Police Department arresting George Floyd, a black man living on the outskirts of Minneapolis. The policeman pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck while Floyd kept moaning: “I can’t breathe.”

According to a statement issued by the Minneapolis Police Department, the arrest took place on the evening of May 25 after the police department received a call to report the suspect of another person. When arrested, suspect George Floyd was sitting on the roof of a blue car.
“After the suspect got out of the car at his request, he resisted the police,” said the police department. “The police officers handcuffed the suspect and realized he was having health problems.”
Many expressed grief over the death of George Floyd near the place where a furious arrest took place before the victim’s death in Minneapolis.
The statement said police called an ambulance and Floyd was taken to Hennepin Medical Center. After the horrific arrest, Floyd died at the medical center. “Determining the cause of death can last at least 3 weeks,” said the forensic examiner.
The Conference of Bishops in Minnesota state that Floyd’s death was a tragedy, and welcomed the administration to conduct an investigation into the case.
“People need to feel safe and have faith in law enforcement. We hope justice will be enforced if the incident involves misconduct, ”said spokesman Jason Adkins of the Minnesota Conference of Bishops.
